Hardware is one of the most important sectors in tech. After all, smartphones, tablets and PCs provide the actual access to the apps, software and content that the digital world is built on and it is often left to long-established companies like Apple, HP, Dell or Samsung to provide these devices. However, with a shifting digital landscape creating new requirements there are new companies still attracting venture funding. With manufacturing and material costs to cover, hardware can be an expensive field and more than USD1.8bn has been invested over 131 deals so far this year, according to StrategyEye data.
