The wearable tech sector faces a pivotal year in 2015. As consumer awareness grows, thanks to the increasing penetration of fitness trackers, an explosion is predicted following Apple’s entry to the market with the launch of the Apple Watch. The device is expected to take smart watches from the playthings of early adopters to a major category in consumer electronics.
However, this sector embraces much more than just smartwatches and increasingly tech companies are partnering with brands and fashion labels to create new products that are as stylish as they are smart. Outside of the consumer world there’re increasing uses of wearable devices, from smart clothes to augmented reality glasses, in professional capacities such as medicine and industrial sites.
