MONTHLY DEAL BOOK: Investment Falls For First Time In Four Months To USD4.7bn

After a surprisingly active July for investors, the summer slowdown truly hit in August with VC investment down 33% month on month to USD4.7bn. This was the first month-on-month fall since April and the lowest amount tracked by StrategyEye since last November when USD3.2bn was raised. The number of deals was down to 216 well below last August’s 256 deals and the lowest total for any month this year. But the overall sum invested is still up 21% compared to last August.
