YouTube should retain its position as the online video market leader with the biggest audience and Alphabet could begin reporting its revenues separately from Google. Facebook will further monetise its video views. This will come from more suggested video lists in which some of the content will come from advertisers, as opposed to pre-roll ads. Its change to measure hours of video watched, rather than number of views reflects how it wants advertisers to view it like YouTube, as a destination for video consumption.
