Microsoft’s new operating system, Windows 7, recently exceeded a 5% market share, putting it ahead of Apple’s Mac OS X, according to Net Applications. Windows 7 had an average market share of 5.07% last weekend, higher than the 5% its rival Mac OS managed over the week.
"It's safe to say that Windows 7's daily share did peak above Mac's weekly share, says Net Applications VP Vince Vizzaccaro.
Net applications claims Windows 7 outsold its predecessor Vista in its first month of sales. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer says Windows 7 has sold twice as many units as any other Microsoft operating system in the period since launch.
