Apple has beaten rival Google to top a list of businesses that drive innovation and challenge market opinions, according to an annual poll by UK firm Populous. The poll asked 1,000 leading business people across London to rank organisations in terms of how thought-provoking their ideas are and how well they provide the service offered. Apple emerged at the top followed by Google, a reversal of last year’s ranking, with Microsoft and Amazon taking the next two spots. Social networking sites Facebook and Twitter were ranked eighth and 10th respectively.
"As we move into a more knowledge-based economy, so the importance of thought leadership grows as a major factor of reputation," says Cass Business School chief Professor David Sims.
